Your HP Tuners RTD4 allows CJR Performance to remotely tune your motorcycle through the TDN (Tune Delivery Network) smartphone app. You can read your ECU, receive and flash CJR tunes, and send datalogs directly to us.
Please complete the following steps in order.
Before You Begin
You will need:
- HP Tuners RTD4 and supplied diagnostic adapter
- iPhone or Android phone with Bluetooth and internet access
- Supplied USB-C cable
- Fully charged phone and motorcycle battery
- Battery charger/tender recommended
IMPORTANT: Maintain proper battery voltage during ECU reads and flashes. Never turn the ignition off, disconnect the RTD4, close TDN, or interrupt power during a read or flash.
STEP 1 — Download the TDN App
Download Tune Delivery Network (TDN) from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Open the app when installation is complete.
STEP 2 — Create or Log Into Your HP Tuners Account
Create an HP Tuners account through TDN or log into your existing account. Keep your login information available, as this account will be used throughout the tuning process.
STEP 3 — Connect & Pair Your RTD4
- Connect the RTD4 to your motorcycle using the supplied adapter.
- Turn the ignition ON/RUN — do not start the engine.
- Once the STAT/PWR light is solid, hold the RTD4 button until the Bluetooth (BT) light flashes.
- Open TDN and follow the prompts to pair your RTD4.
- Allow any firmware/resource updates to complete.
- Go to TDN → Tools → Resync RTD4 and allow the sync to finish.
Keep your phone near the RTD4 with Bluetooth and internet enabled during setup.
STEP 4 — Add CJR Performance as Your Tuner
CJR will provide you with a TDN invite code. (CJR may already be added to your RTD as we work on our auto-deploy system) If not, enter the code in TDN and follow the prompts to add CJR Performance as your tuner. This allows us to receive your ECU files and datalogs and send tunes directly to your account.
STEP 5 — Read Your ECU
Connect a battery charger/tender and make sure your phone is charged, Bluetooth/internet are available, and the RTD4 is connected. Turn the ignition ON — engine OFF.
Go to TDN → Flash/Tunes → READ VEHICLE and follow the on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect or interrupt anything until the read is complete.
NOTE - IF YOUR ECU HAS BEEN FLASHED PREVIOUSLY (FROM CJR OR ANOTHER TUNER) - YOUR ECU WILL REQUIRE A "VIRTUAL READ" REQUESTING A TUNE FILE UPDATE. THIS WILL NEED TO BE FLASHED INTO THE ECU FIRST, BEFORE ALLOWING THE FULL READ PROCESS NEXT. IF THIS OCCURS, FOLLOW ON THE SCREEN PROMPTS TO CONTINUE.
Once finished, look for a green check mark next to the read. This confirms the file has uploaded to TDN. If no green check appears, verify your internet connection and select SYNC FILES.
STEP 6 — CJR Builds Your Tune
Once your ECU read has synced, CJR can access the file and prepare your calibration based on your motorcycle and order information. When completed, your tune will be sent directly to your TDN account.
NOTE - We are actively working on our auto-deploy option which will allow a set of base files to choose from when you first install your RTD. For example, a CBR600RR may be auto deployed with a stock intake/exhaust option with various engine braking options. These can be used as well as the custom tune CJR later sends over.
STEP 7 — Receive Your Tune
Go to TDN → Flash/Tunes → Select Your Motorcycle. Your new CJR tune should appear in the file list. If it does not, select SYNC FILES. Confirm the tune displays a green check mark before continuing.
STEP 8 — Flash Your Tune
Connect a battery charger/tender and make sure your phone, Bluetooth, internet connection, and RTD4 are ready. Turn the ignition ON — DO NOT START THE ENGINE.
Go to TDN → Flash/Tunes → Select Motorcycle → Select CJR Tune → WRITE VEHICLE and follow the on-screen instructions until TDN confirms the write is COMPLETE.
⚠️ DO NOT turn off the ignition, disconnect the RTD4 or charger, close TDN, disable Bluetooth, or otherwise interrupt the flash.
Once complete, follow any ignition ON/OFF instructions displayed by TDN.
STEP 9 — Start & Verify
Start the motorcycle and allow it to idle. Verify everything is operating normally. Temporary warning lights may appear during the read/write process. If a warning or fault remains afterward, contact CJR Performance before attempting another flash.
STEP 10 — Datalogging
CJR may request a datalog to review how your motorcycle is performing.
- Connect the RTD4 and open TDN.
- Go to the Data Log/Scanner section.
- Select the scanner configuration provided by CJR.
- Start the motorcycle and datalog as instructed.
- Stop the log and save/sync it through TDN.
Only perform the type of riding requested by CJR and always datalog in a safe and legal environment.
STEP 11 — Tune Revisions
If a revision is required, CJR will send an updated tune through TDN.
TDN → Flash/Tunes → Select Motorcycle → Sync Files → Select New CJR Tune → Write Vehicle
Follow the same battery and flashing precautions for every revision.
Troubleshooting
RTD4 won't connect: Verify Bluetooth is enabled, TDN has Bluetooth permission, the RTD4 is powered on, and the BT light is flashing. If needed: TDN → Tools → Setup RTD4
Tune isn't showing: Verify internet access and select SYNC FILES.
RTD4 needs to sync: Go to TDN → Tools → Resync RTD4 and allow the process to finish.
Read doesn't have a green check: Verify internet access and select SYNC FILES. The green check confirms the file successfully uploaded to TDN.
Flash failed or was interrupted: Do not repeatedly attempt to flash the motorcycle. Leave the RTD4 connected when possible and contact CJR Performance with your name, order number, motorcycle year/make/model, screenshot of the error, and a description of what happened.
Need Help?
If you're unsure what to do during setup, reading, flashing, or datalogging, stop and contact CJR Performance before proceeding. Please include your name, order number, year/make/model, description of the issue, and a screenshot of any error message.
